Andrea Gehrke

Andrea Gehrke joined the Carhart Center in 2017 and is a career Forest Service employee. She began as a seasonal Wilderness Guard in 1987 working summers in the Eagle Cap Wilderness on the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest in the Pacific Northwest Region, while attending Oregon State University and earning a bachelor's degree in Forest Resource Management with an emphasis in Forest Recreation Resources. Before she graduated she was selected to serve as a Co-op Education Student on the Seeley Lake Ranger District of the Lolo National Forest in the Northern Region, where she assisted in management of the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex. She has lived and worked throughout the nation in various roles in Recreation & Information Management and Administration. She has gained additional skills through studies including Natural Horsemanship and Equine Assisted Corporate Learning which incorporate emotional intelligence training, adult learning techniques and problem solving. Andrea comes to the Carhart Center Director position from Washington, DC where she has been serving as the Deputy Director of Recreation, Heritage and Volunteer Resources.
