Sue McDonald has been the Visitor Services Manager at the Prairie Wetlands Learning Center (PWLC), the premier environmental education facility for the Fish and Wildlife Service, in Fergus Falls, MN for the past two years. Prior to her position at the PWLC, Sue has worked for 20 years in visitor services at a variety of National Wildlife Refuges (NWR). In these roles she has provided leadership and direction for visitor services by directing environmental education, interpretation, volunteer, recreation, outreach, and public affairs programs.
Sue joined the Fish and Wildlife Service in 1997 as a Park Ranger at the Minnesota Valley NWR. From there, she worked at Lee Metcalf NWR, Imperial NWR, DeSoto NWR, and the Mid-Columbia River NWR Complex. Prior to working for the Fish and Wildlife Service, Sue worked at several National Parks including Denali, Arches Glacier and Everglades.
Sue has a bachelor's degree in Recreation Resource Management from the University of Minnesota and has worked as a member of national planning teams promoting visitor services, partnerships, and interpretation programs.
In her spare time, Sue enjoys being a soccer mom to her 14-year old daughter. She also enjoys long walks with their dog and hiking in the mountains.
